Benefits

Upon separation, you remain eligible for benefits through the last day of the month in which you separated.  You will receive a Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) notice regarding continued benefit participation.

Payroll

An employee’s last paycheck is a hard check and will include terminal payments (see below). There are several options for obtaining the check:

  • Mailed to the residential address that is recorded in the payroll system
If you are leaving because you are relocating, make sure we have the updated information.
  • Pick it up in person
Contact Human Resources to schedule the specific time for pickup.
  • Pick it up via a designated person
Please email Human Resources to authorize a person to pick up your check. Please note, that upon arrival the authorized person will be required to show picture identification.

Terminal Payments

Upon separation, employees receive payment for accrued unused vacation time. Employees may be eligible to receive payment for accrued unused sick leave based upon the following criteria:

  • 8-plus years of service = 25%
  • 18-plus years of service = 50%

Some choose to roll over terminal payments to deferred compensation accounts. Please call the appropriate deferred compensation program to explore this option:

  • County Commissions Association of Ohio
    Phone: 800.284.0444
  • Ohio Deferred Compensation
    Phone: 877.644.6457
