Teen Incarceration Prevention Skills

Teen Incarceration Prevention Skills (TIPS) training focuses on exposing youth to skills that can help them overcome individual, family and community barriers that impact their ability to refrain from criminal activity.

Youth participate in three phases of programming during TIPS.

Initially youth are assessed as to their employability, educational needs and vocational direction so they become aware of their job readiness and learn effective study habits.

The powerful violence prevention phase of TIPS incorporates activities that aid the participants in understanding the consequences of violence and keeping themselves safe and healthy.

Finally, the youth are given information pertaining to life skills and shown how to become a functional members of society, an asset to their family and a credit to their community.
