The Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) operates within the guidelines and requirements as established by the Ohio Department of Youth Services (ODYS) and American Correctional Association (ACA). It is a maximum security facility that can accommodate 132 male and female juvenile offenders who are being detained pending Court requirements. Basic programming, focusing on learning and development is offered within the JDC. Full-time education services are provided by the Columbus Public Schools. The Detention Center electronic monitoring staff may apply an electronic device for youth to be supervised in their home, in accordance with a court order. Daily monitoring of the youth's activities is reviewed to ensure court ordered expectations are met. A number of community agencies and programs lend their support to JDC efforts and contribute to services within the JDC.
